A Message from the Chairman
On behalf of the Union County Board of County Commissioners, I am pleased to welcome you to the Warinanco Park Sports Center.
For generations, Warinanco Park has been a place where memories are made—for families, athletes, and visitors from across Union County and beyond. Today, that tradition continues through thoughtful investments that honor the park’s history while expanding opportunities for recreation, connection, and enjoyment throughout the year.
The Sports Center remains anchored by the treasured ice skating rink that so many residents know and love. For decades, it has served as a gathering place for skaters of all ages and skill levels, offering seasonal skating, lessons, camps, clinics, and special events that bring the community together year after year.
Inside the Sports Center, visitors can enjoy a bright, open multipurpose space designed for dining, relaxing, and socializing, with food available year-round. The facility also includes flexible indoor spaces and conference rooms that support a wide range of activities, from skating programs to warm-weather sports clinics and seasonal events.
Beyond the Sports Center, Warinanco Park reflects the County’s long-term commitment to high-quality public spaces. Previous improvements have included a track and field, recently upgraded tennis and pickle ball courts, a playground and spray park, communication boards/storybook trails, an accessible fishing pier and lake viewing platform, a dog park, and meaningful environmental enhancements.
As you can see, Union County is currently building a new, modern skating rink adjacent to the existing facility, with construction already underway. This new rink will expand capacity and allow for year-round skating and programming, strengthening the Sports Center while preserving the character that makes Warinanco Park such a special place.
Together, these investments reflect the Board of County Commissioners’ ongoing commitment to providing modern, inclusive recreational spaces that serve residents of all ages and abilities.
